On May 7, 2026, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra hosted the presentation of the newly published volume Vybrané kapitoly z teórie a praxe prekladu vo vedách o človeku a kultúre [Selected Chapters from the Theory and Practice of Translation in the Humanities and Cultural Studies] (2025). The publication represents a further outcome of a research project devoted to translation in the fields of the humanities and social sciences. It builds on several earlier scholarly outputs of the project, most notably the two-volume Dictionary of Translators of 20th-Century Literary Works (2015, 2017) and the recently published Slovník prekladateliek a prekladateľov: vedy o človeku a kultúre [Dictionary of Translators: Humanities and Cultural Studies] (2024).
During the event, Dr. Pánisová and Assoc. Prof. Šavelová introduced the publication to members of the student and academic communities. The volume offers a scholarly perspective on the translation of texts in the social sciences and humanities and is based on lectures delivered in 2023–2024 within the framework of research projects. Its individual chapters address diverse aspects of translation in the humanities and cultural studies, while the contributors were able to substantially expand and deepen the original topics. The resulting publication constitutes a thematically coherent and interdisciplinary work that brings together unique insights and research findings in a single volume.
The publication is primarily intended for educators and students in the fields of translation studies, philology, philosophy, history, and the social sciences. At the same time, it represents a valuable scholarly resource for the wider academic community as well as for professional translators.
The publication is available in open access and can be accessed in PDF format HERE.
