Guest Lecture by Professor Brian James Baer

The Department of Translation Studies, Faculty of Arts, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, invites you to a guest lecture by Professor Brian James Baer of Kent State University (USA), entitled Translation and the Making of Soviet World Literature: The View from State-Sponsored Periodicals.

Brian James Baer is a leading scholar in contemporary Translation Studies. He is Professor of Russian and Translation Studies at Kent State University, founding editor of Translation and Interpreting Studies, and current President of the American Translation and Interpreting Studies Association (ATISA).

The lecture will explore the role of translation and state-sponsored periodicals in shaping the idea of world literature in the Soviet Union.
