Profile:
Eva Verebová graduated in the study programme English Language and Culture and Russian Language and Culture (aimed at preparing Translators and Interpreters) in the study field Philology at the Department of Translation Studies, Faculty of Arts, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. Since September 2022, she is a full-time PhD student at DTS, where she teaches translation and interpreting courses. In 2023 she became an editorial assistant for the Bridge international journal in Translation Studies as well as a member of OPEN Research Network – an international platform for researchers in Media Accessibility. In her research she focuses on making theatre communication accessible to the D/deaf and hard-of-hearing audience. In practice she has been dealing for a long time mainly with audiovisual translation and subtitling for film- and theatre-oriented festivals; coordination of foreign guests at international events; and volunteering. She, for instance, collaborates on creating subtitles and captions for the D/deaf and hard-of-hearing audience, as well as on other forms of provision of subtitles or captions, for the international film festival One World in Slovakia; and as a staff member of the Association Divadelná Nitra she partakes in translating, editing and subtitling of theatre productions.
