Profile:

Soňa Hodáková is an associate professor in Translation Studies. Her research and publications focus mainly on psychological and cognitive aspects in the interpreting process and on the didactics of translation and interpreting. Her recent research and project activities have focused mainly on the topic of public service interpreting. She is a member of the PSIT and LLD working group of the EMT network. She is the principal investigator of a national project on the training of future public service interpreters entitled Development of collaborative PSI education in Slovakia: design, implementation and evaluation of courses for the training of public service interpreters (KEGA grant agency) and national coordinator of the international projects Mental HEALTH 4 ALL: Development and implementation of a digital platform for the promotion of access to mental healthcare for low language proficient third-country nationals in Europe (AMIF, European Commission) and Competence – Resilience – Efficiency. Together on the way to a complex profile in the training of future community interpreters (Aktion Austria – Slovakia). She is a member of the editorial board of the international scientific journal Bridge: Trends and Traditions in Translation and Interpreting Studies. She is also a practicing translator and interpreter.
